This Level 5 Diploma in Education and Teaching is designed for learners aiming to become fully qualified further education teachers, with the potential to achieve the professional status of Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS).

Entry Requirements

Designed for learners aged 19 and above.

No specific prior qualifications are required, but a Level 4 Certificate in Education and Teaching may be helpful.

Entry is via centre interview with individual assessment of suitability.

Applicants should be qualified or experienced in their teaching subject area. For academic subjects, a relevant degree is usually expected; for vocational subjects, professional qualifications or substantial industry experience are needed.

Applicants need adequate personal skills in English and Maths to meet the academic demands.

Must demonstrate the ability to study at Level 5 (equivalent to the second year of a degree course).

The course requires a minimum of 100 hours of teaching practice, including working with groups and fulfilling specific practice requirements per unit.
